Step 1: Excavation Around
the Foundation
To start, we dig around the perimeter of the building, typically 4–8 feet deep and around 2.5 feet wide, based on property elevation.
Step 2: Installing Safety Shoring
To ensure worker safety and prevent soil from collapsing, speed shoring is placed around the excavation.
Step 3: Replacing Outdated
Weeping Tiles
We dig until the foundation’s footing is fully exposed. Once uncovered, the old weeping tile is removed, and a new, filter-cloth-wrapped 4-inch weeping tile is installed.
Step 4: Cleaning and Repairing Foundation Walls
The foundation walls are cleaned and inspected for gaps or cracks. Any damage is filled with specialized non-shrink cement that expands upon application, creating a seamless barrier.
Step 5: Applying Protective Membranes
A rubber membrane is adhered to the walls, incorporating bentonite to ensure it remains flexible and secure even if there’s slight foundation movement.
Step 6: Attaching Soil-Side Drainage
A sturdy drainage sheet is attached to the termination bar, offering superior strength over standard residential-grade materials.
Step 7: Installing Window Wells
If your basement has below-ground windows, we install window wells with a vertical weeping tile for optimal drainage.
Step 8: Adding Clear Gravel
A ¾-inch layer of clear gravel is placed over the weeping tile to prevent blockage and enhance drainage efficiency.
Step 9: Refilling with Native Soil
Finally, we backfill the area with the original soil, compacting it to prevent settling and ensure long-term protection.
